Flowers

Today I have decided to do a post all about flowers. I live not to far from the Chicago Botanic Gardens and I usually go every summer. The flowers here are beautiful and its very easy to find a good subject to photograph. Enjoy!

This is my favorite flower on planet! I love the variety of colors.

I don't really like the smell of roses, but this rose just had such a beautiful color/pattern.

Another one of my favorite flowers. I love the little details in this picture.

The macro setting on my old camera was the reason for these wonderful close-up shots.

The biggest flower in the gardens.

Museums

Lets keep with the Chicago theme and show some photos from all of the different museums.
First up is the Field Museum:

Sue! The most famous dino. in Chicago. I like how this photo almost shows an emotion from the subject.

Inside a Maori Meeting house from New Zealand (above and below)

Now, on to the Museum of Science and Industry. These photos were taken during their huge Christmas Trees from Around the World exhibit. The theme of the main tree was Dr. Seuss.

Ornaments from the main tree.

The ornaments from the Thailand tree.

Last but not least, the Shedd Aquarium. My favorite out of all of them!

Their octopus was the most active octopus that I have ever seen.

The dolphins are my absolute favorite out of any animal at the Shedd.

Now to end the blog with a very close-up shot of an eel.

Thanks for looking!

Sweet Home Chicago

I love Chicago! I'm only an hour away but I don't get to go as often as I would like. Today's post highlights some of the things that I have done her in the past few months.

Of course we have to start off with a picture of the now Willis Tower. However, when this picture was taken it was still called the Sears Tower. To all those who live in Illinois, it will be forever known as the Sears Tower. Willis is such a dumb name for it. I love the clouds in this picture, it is a very photogenic tower ;-)

Lake Michigan. I took hundreds of pictures here. It is just so beautiful and every picture came out great. This one is my favorite because I can visualize the wave smacking into the rock as if I was really there. It really emotes the power of the waves.

The Bean, no blog about Chicago is complete without a picture of this. It is really cool to take pictures of, even better if there were not any people around. It is still an interesting piece of art.

Wrigley Field! I love the Cubs, even though they let me down every year. I am still a fan!

I'm going to end this post with a photo of a firework from a White Sox game that I went to. My Dad is a season tickets holder so the Cubs fan has to take a backseat when we go to those games ;-)

My First Post

I am going to start this blog by showing off a few random photos.
I will get into more themed posts once I get the hang of this and get some more followers.

Since it is currently snowing at my house, I thought that I would start with a snow photo. This was taken last year after the huge "snowpocalypse" snow storm in February. I love the ripples in the snow, it adds dimension to the photo.

Another snow picture but this time, something pretty to look at. I love the Macro setting on my camera. It is really cool to get up close to the object that you are photographing. I like this photo in the way that the snow and the light seem to sparkle.

And because I really hate the snow, a picture to take my mind off of it. A beautiful summer photo of the river walk near my school. It is a beautiful place to take pictures. I love the colors in this one.

Well that's all for now. I will continue to post more in the near future. I accept all form of critique and if you love the picture let me know! I am also willing to sell prints of my photos if they speak to you that much. Thank you all for joining me in my first post!
